Delhi Day 1

Check-in starts at 1600 hrs at Safderjung Station. Departure at 1830 hrs from Safderjung Station
Report by 1700 hrs at railway station for
traditional welcome & check-in formalities. Time free for
photo-shoot with traditionally attired Palace On Wheels staff. Be
escorted to your private cabins by Saloon Attendant. Enjoy a
complimentary champagne welcome drink in the Bar Lounge. Dinner
served from 1930 hrs onwards in the dining car.

Jaipur Day 2

By 0830 hrs proceed for sightseeing. Night return to train & depart
Enjoy a Royal Welcome by Elephants at the station and proceed for a visit to
St Albert Museum, Pink City Palace & recently declared UNESCO
World Heritage Site of Jantar Mantar (Sun Observatory). Photo stop at
Hawa Mahal (Palace of Winds) Afternoon excursion to Hill Fort Palace
of Amber and enjoy ride up the steep ramparts on festively decorated
elephants Enjoy lunch in a restaurant in the Fort premises. Later
discover the beauty of the 16th century well preserved Palace, with a
rare fusion of combined Rajput and Mughal architecture. Time free for
shopping. Return to train for onboard dinner. Train departs.

Ranthambhore - Tiger Reserve Day 3

Early morning arrive at Sawai Madhopur
Railway station. Proceed by 0630 hrs for jungle safari to
Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve - home to tigers, panthers, sloth bears,
pythons, marsh crocodiles and hundreds of deer. Return to the train
to freshen up for late breakfast whilst train departs.

Day 3 Friday afternoon: Chittorgarh - Hill Fort

Late afternoon excursion to Hill Fort of Chittor, spread
over a huge plateau - with history dating back to the11th century. In
the evening enjoy Sound & Light program in the Fort complex &
later return to train for dinner and depart.

Udaipur - City of Lakes Day 4

Arrive by 0800 hrs and depart at 1530 hrs

After onboard breakfast, proceed to visit
17th century- built City Palace complex, standing on a rocky
promontory with eleven constituent mahals (palaces), balconies,
towers and cupolas. Walk across to the nearby Crystal Gallery, the
personal collection of H.H. of Udaipur & later enjoy a boat ride
around the world famous "Lake Palace Hotel" perched atop a
small island in Lake Pichola. Proceed for lunch to Palace Hotel. Time
free to visit the Royal Gardens at Saheliyon Ki Bari and return to
the train by 3 pm and depart.

Jaisalmer - Oasis in the Desert Day 5

Arrive by 0915 hrs and depart at 2345 hrs

Who would have dreamt that in the middle of
the vast Thar Desert and hostile terrain there exists the oasis town
of Jaisalmer, straight out of an Arabian Nights fable? At 0930 hrs,
walk through the 12th century built living Golden Fort complex,
standing at a height of hundred meters over Jaisalmer. The fort has
99 bastions - a splendid sight in the afternoon sun. Enter through a
forbidding series of massive gates leading to a large courtyard.
Visit Patwon ki Haveli, one of the largest and most elaborate mansion
houses which is five storeys high and extensively carved. Nearby is a
group of 15th century built Jain Temples, which are beautifully
carved and have a library hosting some of the oldest manuscripts of
India. Return to the train for lunch and a rest. At 1630 hrs proceed
for an excursion to Sam Sand Dunes for a camel joy ride and sunset
photo shoot opportunity. Later enjoy a cultural program and dinner.
Return to the train and depart.

Jodhpur - Heart of Marwar Day 6

Arrive by 0700 hrs and departat 1530 hrs

Set at the edge of the Thar Desert, the
imperial town of Jodhpur was founded in the 15th century and echoes
with tales of antiquity. At 0830 hrs proceed for sightseeing of the
Mehrangarh Fort complex ,atop a rocky hill which soars 125 m above
Jodhpur town. The complex is approached by a series of gateways set
at an angle so that enemy armies could not charge in with any
success. Once past the Fort gates, you have access to breathtaking
Palatial Apartments (Mahal) overlooking wide courtyards. Also visit
the museum, housing an impressive collection of royal dresses and
medieval weapons. Near the Fort complex is the late 19th century
built Jaswant Thada, a cluster of royal cenotaphs in white marble.
Lunch at the Palace Hotel. Return to the train and depart.

Bharatpur - Bird Sanctuary Day 7

Arrive by 0500 hrs and depart at 0845 hrs
Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary is spread over 29 sq
km. It has been listed by UNESCO as a world heritage site and houses
more than 375 species of Indian birds. It also attracts birds from
Europe, Siberia, China and Tibet. Early morning from 0630 hrs to 0800
hrs, enjoy a cycle rickshaw ride through wetlands of Keoladeo Ghana
National Park. Return to train for breakfast & depart.

Agra - City of Taj day 8

On arrival at Agra Railway Station
proceed to luxury hotel for lunch. Later visit the UNESCO World
Heritage Site of Agra Fort, seat of the mighty Mughal Empire from
16th to early 18th century. The visit,the flawless beauty in marble,
one of the seven wonders of the world - the Taj Mahal,often referred
to as ode to love. In the evening, drive back to the railway station
to board the train. Dinner on board. Train departs.

Delhi Day 9

Arrives early in the morning, by 0530
hrs at Safderjung Railway Station, Delhi. Check-out starts by 0700
hrs after early breakfast.

The Palace on Wheels tour starts on
every "Wednesday" of the week from New
Delhi, from September until April of the following year.

time is 16:30 hrs at Delhi Safdarjung Railway Station where a royal
reception awaits you. This prestigious train departs from Safdarjung
Railway Station at 18:30 hrs.

tour so that you can rejoin the group at the next accommodation.
